Week 49: Service

DEAR FRIENDS AND FAMILY

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND BEST WISHES FROM THE IPM!!!!
Well for this week because it's Christmas and I’m sure no one will be reading this I’ve decided to forgo a long email about all the super boring things I did this week! Haha but there is one story I would like to tell...

On Friday we had the opportunity to wake up bright and early and volunteer at a Community Dinner Table. Tons of missionaries were there. We went to tons of different Churches of Tons of different Denominations and they provided tons of canned foods and goodies and bread, milk and eggs. After we collected all the food we organized and packaged a lot of this food into "Ready Boxes". While all this was being done a long line of hungry people were waiting in the cold for this food. At 8 o’clock we opened the doors and let them come in. It was our job to take them through this line of food that was set up with their boxes so they could get food. It was so neat to see the thankfulness in their eyes as we helped them get food. For some of them this was going to be the only food they had for Christmas. After we filled these Boxes to the brim with food we loaded them onto carts and carried them to these people's cars. I probably went through the line at least 10 times. We started at 6 and ended the service at 2. By the end I was cold, sore, and tired. But it was ALL worth it. To see these people, these children of God, get the help they need; to know that they won't sleep hungry tonight. It was what the True meaning of Christmas is really about. To show to others the love that Christ has shown to use. To maybe sacrifice a little of our "Merry Christmas" so others can just have a Christmas.
I know that we are all God's Children. Every person on this Earth is deserving of Love. Regardless of Age, Color, Religion, or Economic standing. Christ doesn't compare. This Christmas Season should be about celebrating the Birth of a Savior. Not about what cool toy we just got. As we give of ourselves we truly do gain Happiness!
I love this Gospel. I Love the opportunity I have to serve God's Children. I know He Lives!
Merry Christmas Everyone
Love,
Elder Rash
