Dearest Family and Friends,
It's been an awesome week!!! Aubree got baptized!!!! We were able to set more baptismal dates!!!! Woo Hoo! and we were able to help Paul (who recently got baptized) get the priesthood! WOO HOO!!!! Things have been happening really quickly. I'm glad it has because I think this may be my last month here in good ol' Blackfoot.
On Saturday, Ms. Aubree got baptized! It was so neat! Everything went off without a hitch. The font was filled, tables and chairs set up for the luncheon afterwards, hymn books out. Everything was perfect. The family all showed up, the bishop was there and we got started on time! It was so spiritual as the mom of Aubree got up to talk. Keep in mind, 6 months ago this family was completely in active with no desire to come to church. But after the ward reaching out in a non threatening way, THE Ward Play, they felt the love that everyone had for them and started making steps to come back. The Father, Randy, received the Priesthood so he could baptize and confirm his daughter. They began paying their tithing so that they can go through the temple and be sealed as a family for time and all eternity. They are a great family and we are so excited for them. The room was packed at her baptism with so many people who love that family.
Gary and Kristie: They finally got back from Boise, again. The new surgery was a SUCCESS, they opened up her old surgery and found broken hardware in her spine. The metal that they put in the first time didn't fuse and broke away from the spine. They also found Mersa in her back. The doctors got her all fixed up and now she looks 10 times better than before. This was really a blessing that the hardware broke, because if it hadn't they would have never found the Mersa and that can cause all sorts of health problems if it isn't caught soon enough. We went over last night and blessed and gave them the Sacrament because they couldn't make it to church. You can just feel the relief in that home now that they are coming out of the worst of it... Knock of wood.
Paul: We visited with Paul's Bishop yesterday morning and we started talking about Paul and how Paul was ready to receive the Priesthood. Bishop agreed and he called up Paul right then and set up a time and Paul became a Priest in the Aaronic Priesthood yesterday. After church we went over to have a lesson with him and Tessa. It was a really great lesson and then afterwards he showed us his Kimber .45 caliber 1911. He had it completely customized and this gun looked SO COOL!!!!
We met two kids this week that want to be baptized!
Kaleb & Kimberly: They are brother and sister and we shared the message on the Restoration with them and invited them to be baptized and they said they would only be baptized if their Grandma was... and they turned to look at their Grandma. Their grandma smiled and said, "I'm already baptized LDS" (Which we knew but the kids didn't ;) ) So then the kids agreed and they plan to be baptized on June 28th. It’s going to take a lot of commitment from these kids who are 10 and 11 but we know that they can do it.
Conner: Came to church this week again! :) He is doing really well! We went over Saturday night and committed him to really try hard to meet his baptism goal of June 14th. We know he can make it and he said he really wants to. We also had another light saber duel! ;) Which I and Elder Kolb are experts at! We kicked butt! At one point Conner and his Brother tried to gang up on one of us so the other would toss his saber to the other so we could double wield and then they'd get scared and run away. :) See Missionaries get to have fun too ;)
Alyssa and Alora were out of town this week so we didn't get to see them much. We got to talk to Art which is always fun! That family is doing better. Their brother Mike is out of ICU now. So things are looking up.
Storm: We were able to visit with her AND HER MOM! This was a huge step. Her mom has told her that before she will believe that storm is ready she has to go to some other churches to learn more, and also read some of the Bible not just the Book of Mormon. We really hope she is sincere and isn't just using this as a stalling tactic to make storm lose interest. Which we don't think it will but still. Storm on the other hand is doing well. She has some concerns that she is working through but she still goes to church and reads her scriptures.
Well that's all I have family and friends. Happy Memorial Day. I love you guys. Congrats Brigham Davis for deciding to be Baptized! Congrats Jenny and Chrisie for getting engaged! And Shelbie for all her awards that she got and her Promotion. And Congrats to everyone else who did something cool! Well peace out Girl Scouts!
Love,
Elder Rash
