Dear Family and Friends
Sorry this is late and probably going to be short. But cut me some slack! I'm about the Lord's work! If you have concerns or complaints take it up with Him!
This week was a really good week! Our mission has set forth a challenge that every companionship baptize in the month of April. So we have been working and sweating to prepare someone for April. (it would have been so much better if they had picked MARCH to do this in but oh well) We have a few people preparing for April but none that were super solid. But this past Saturday we sat down with one of our investigators and found out that the Lord is preparing people.
His name is Paul. We have been meeting with Paul for some time now but it has been at a member's "Fireside Talk's" so the member picks the speakers and the topic. So needless to say we have visited with him but weren't really able to teach the set lessons. But last week my companion Elder Kolb was very bold with him and invited him to think about baptism and gave him a copy of the Book of Mormon and set up an appointment for just us to go over and begin teaching. Paul has an active member girlfriend who has talked to him quite a bit about the church. Things have been happening in his life that have been helping him prepare for this for a long time. So on Saturday we went over and taught him about the Restoration of the Gospel. The spirit was in the lesson and we invited him to be Baptized on April 26. And he agreed. He is a great guy and has been coming to church with his girlfriend, Tessa, for about a year now.
Storm: We visited with Storm and she is still doing really well. She went to a friends house this weekend and watched conference with his family. SHE even invited a non member friend to the lesson as well. She expressed some concerns about all the ridicule and harassment she has been getting from people about her decision to join the church and change her life. We tried to help her and show her that Satan will always try and stop people from finding happiness. Elder Holland Gave a talk Saturday morning about that very thing! Conference is so cool that way!
Blade: We have an appointment with him today as well. He is just trying to get off probation and then he is set for his baptism.
Gary and Kristie: They are doing well. They were in Boise all weekend because Kristie needs MORE back surgery. :( She is taking it pretty well though. For our next appointment with them, The Inskeeps and us and them are going to go to the temple visitor center. To help them see their goal of going through the temple. Gary even asked us a question about garments! hahah he was a little bit nervous about it. We let him know that he won't have to worry about those for a little while.
Alyssa and Alora: These girls came to watch Conference with us! They are typical teenaged girls and got a little bored about half way through and kept on asking when it'd be over. It's about what i expected but they still got something out of it. :)
All in all we are doing pretty good up here. Weather is warming up, people are starting to come out of hibernation, all is right with the world.
Congrats to Tia Misuraca and Patty Lorsch on getting their mission calls!!! Russia and Indiana are lucky to have you guys!
I loved M Russell Ballard's talk in conference about Follow Up. As a missionary that is one thing we FOCUS on! is making sure with whatever commitment we extend, whatever we promise, we make sure we follow up and check the progress. It is a life skill that is a great one to learn.
Well i love you guys and i hope all is well. I did get the package mom. Haven't gotten a written letter for weeks... but i got the package.
Oh! and thank you Parkwood ward for the package as well! That was very nice!
Love,
Elder Rash
