Well... SURPRISE!!!! I'm no longer serving in Shelley,
Idaho. I am now serving in Blackfoot, Idaho! This is a surprise to everyone.
Including myself... Let’s see if I can explain at all....
Well Elder Viana and I were working hard, preparing
for the Baptism of Jaron and Lucas on Saturday. Which went off without a hitch.
I'll talk about it later) And we get a call from President Brinkerhoff on
Wednesday. He told us that there was an area that needed missionaries due to
some Elders going home for medical reasons. He told me that I would be going
down to Blackfoot on Saturday night and that Elder Viana would be staying and
getting a new companion. I obviously don't need to tell anyone who has read my
previous emails how I felt about this. I was so upset. So I packed my bags,
said my farewells, and prepared for my new area. Blackfoot East Stake.
Luckily I was able to go to the Baptisms of Jaron
Vesser and Lucas Pendleton. They both were great! Tons of people came for both
of them. It’s been so neat being able to teach both of them from beginning to
baptism! As I arrived for Jaron's Baptism I got the surprise of my life. With 5
minutes til the Baptism the speaker talking on Baptism bailed and Jaron asked
me if I would speak!!! Now 9 months ago I would have freaked out! But thanks to
my training and study every day I felt calm and collected. As the time came to
speak I got up and spoke for 9 minutes on baptism. And I remember nothing of
what I said. But I got smiles and tears from the crowd so I guess it was good!
I love these boys and am so proud of them for their progression.
So now a little about my new area. I've only been here
for a day so cut me some slack on the details. I'm serving here in Blackfoot
with Elder Nielsen. He has been out for 15 months and is from Sturgis,
Michigan. We get along quite well. Which is nice. We cover 3 wards in the
stake, 4th 6th and 11th. 4th and 6th are in town and 11 is out in the sticks. It’s
a walking area as of 3 weeks ago. Our car was taken by the Elders in the other
half of the stake because they needed it more. I don't know if I buy that or
not... Looks like another winter walking around. :) yay! :(
Well that's all I have this week. I'm sure my mom will
be writing up a storm to ask me all sorts of questions! :) I love you guys and I’ll
let you know more when I know more! The Church is true. :)
Love,
Elder Rash
