Week 31: A Slow Week But Not Discouraged

Dear Family and Friends,

How is everyone today? This week has been slower than usual which kind of stinks but Elder Porter and I have been working hard doing service and trying to stay busy.
First off, transfers are in 9 days. We both think Elder Porter will be leaving because he has been here since February. I will probably be staying here and training. I'm excited to train and hope that I can do a good job. Elder Porter is excited because he might train too. We are getting 50 new missionaries this transfer!
I told you in a previous letter that I came across a man with the same last name as me. Unfortunately I haven't been able to get a hold of him. He lives in a retirement home that, although it is in our area, isn't in our jurisdiction. The last time we went over his wife wasn't doing well and we told him we'd stop by later. What he did tell me is that his ancestry is from Ireland and then to Missouri. It’s a good chance we are related but I just haven't been able to talk to him more. We definitely will be going over again though.
This week we had a member teach us how to make really really good bread. Brother Bright had given us this bread before and we had just demolished it before we even got home. So he said he'd teach us how to make it. The Bright family is really cool. They have a little boy, Cody who is 6. He loves it when we come over, he grabs his rubber band gun and we have rubber band wars. They have a 17 year old daughter, Alicia who is a junior in school and a 19 year old son, who is on a mission. While we were waiting for the bread to rise I noticed a trophy of Brother Brights for Trap shooting. This led into a conversation about guns. :) :) He showed us his gun safe and some of his guns. This guy has more guns than I’ve ever seen!!! He could easily arm the neighborhood. So I got to get my gun fix too! :) The members here are really nice and supportive of missionary work.
Stake Conference was this Sunday and the theme was on missionary work! They had a recently returned senior couple speak on their mission and the stake presidency spoke as well. It was a good stake conference.
Thank you guys for all the letters and emails! I'm sorry if I haven't written you guys back yet (sorry mom and dad, definitely this week! :) ) I will try to write you back soon! I love you guys!
Elder Rash
