This week Elder Rash got a bad head cold. We chatted with him briefly via email and he asked to forego a weekly letter and have us just add some info from his chat with us. He and Elder Porter have been burning both ends of the wick this past week as they get ready for transfers. They are both staying together for another transfer. It is clear that he is staying very busy with the work. This past week Elder Rash and Elder Porter have been meeting with less active members trying to teach and encourage them to come back. This is right in line with President Monson's theme "To the Rescue". This less active man told them about his son who is homeless in Wyoming. The father has no way of contacting the son so Elder Rash and Elder Porter thought they would see if they could help. They did some research and got a list of homeless shelters in Wyoming. They stared calling homeless shelters looking for the man's son. On the second call they learned that the man's son was staying at that shelter. They then researched and found the ward that covers that shelter and have contacted the bishop requesting that they attempt to contact the son and put him in contact with his father. For Elder Rash this was another detective moment putting the pieces of a puzzle together. But most of all it was a small act of service. It reminds us all of the scripture that states when ye are in the service of your fellow man ye are only in the service of your God.
Elder Rash taught 18 lessons this past week. 9 of the lessons were to less active members. They cover 3 wards and each ward has about 400 members each but only about 150 attend church each week. Elder Rash is currently teaching a family where the father is an inactive member and the wife and children are not members. The father is extremely excited to come back to church and become an active member again. The family has not been to church yet. Elder Rash and Elder Porter have taught the family twice and hope to see continued progress with this family.
