Elder Rash again! This week
has FLOWN by!!!! Want to know why???? Because we have been soooo busy with
lessons and contacting people!!!! I love it!!!!! I really have a testimony of
"losing yourself in the work". Those preparing to serve missions
never forget that. If you feel down or depressed, GET OFF YOUR BUTT AND GO TO
WORK!!! It has been a really good week. I've felt great, My comp and I are
getting along great, and our investigators are amazing! Let’s talk about them
for a little bit...
Michael:
Is awesome! This past Sunday was fast and testimony meeting. He got up and bore
his testimony about general conference. Elder Holland’s talk really hit him
hard and helped him. He said he had been concerned because he didn't KNOW that
all this was true. BUT he BELIEVES. And that is enough for now! He is a
fireball! I love this guy!
Zach:
He is still doing well! We are working with him to quit smoking still! In fact,
there was a missionary fireside last night that he went to and thanks to a very
pretty Sister missionary's persuasion; he handed over his cigarettes and
lighter!!! THANK YOU CUTE SISTER MISSIONARY!!!! hahah We tossed the cigarettes
but kept the lighter as a memento! The fireside went really well... I assume.
There were so many investigators there was no room for the missionaries! haha
We all got kicked into the foyer!
Jeszyka:
She is a new investigator. Another friend of Michael’s that he has pulled in
and helped out. She is having a custody battle over her little daughter who was
taken from her by the child’s father. It’s a difficult situation and we are
trying to help provide her with peace and comfort. She is staying with Michael
while they sort things out. Her daughter is the cutest little thing! She is
almost 2. Jeszyka is awesome!!! She agreed to meet with us and we planned on
teaching her about the restoration. Before our lesson she watched the
Restoration movie 4 times!!!!! We had 3 lessons with her 3 days in a row! She
says she is like a sponge! Just absorbing as much as possible! She watched
conference with us AND came to church with her little daughter yesterday :)
Rachel:
Hasn't been feeling well lately so we keep rescheduling a time to see her. I
pray for her and hope she feels better.
Kathleen:
We met with her after two weeks of not seeing her. She had some disappointing
news... she said that she had been praying and that she hadn't felt anything.
We started talking to her about what could be going on in her life to stop her
from receiving an answer. She told us A LOT of stuff. First off she pretty much
said that she is more curious about religion that to actually join. She said
that IF Jesus were to give her a swift kick in the head and say THE MORMONS ARE
RIGHT that then she'd join. She told us that she enjoys tarot cards and
believes Wicken teachings and a ton of other beliefs. I was kind of like
"AND YOU WONDER WHY YOU HAVEN'T GOTTEN AN ANSWER?!?" But we tried our
best and she did concede to the fact that maybe she wasn't in the right place
right now to receive an answer. We agreed. She says she still wants us to come
and visit and have lessons, just less often. We will continue to pray for her.
Jenine:
She is an investigator that I haven't taught yet. We keep trying to set up
times to meet but every time she is sick and doesn't feel well. We gave her a
blessing once but we still haven't taught a lesson. We pray that she can feel
better so we can teach her.
A lot of our investigators
we haven't been able to see this week. We've spent ALOT of time with less active
members and recent converts. Teaching them lessons and encouraging them to come
to church :)
The families in my wards
are great! I've spent some time with the Hammons! I love that family! My
family! We play basketball Monday and Friday mornings with Auki and Brother
Hammon, along with the Elders in the Castlerock ward. That is really fun. Watch
out Elders in my home ward. I'm getting ALOT better! :) I love basketball. It’s
a great way to stay in shape and wake up in the mornings! We had dinner with
the Clarke Family, the family with the man I THOUGHT was a drunk, but he was
actually the Ward mission leader. I love that family! The kids are so fun! We
played tag out in the backyard before dinner! They wore me out!
I really love the area I'm
in! Transfers are in 2 weeks. I will probably stay here but there is a high
chance that Elder Malau' Ulu will leave. He has been here for a long time and
he is done training me now so they may send him elsewhere where he is needed. I
hope he stays though. I love this guy like a brother! Well I love you all and
can't wait to hear from you! If any of you want to write me letters or emails
feel free! I love hearing from people back home! :)
Love,
Elder Rash
***Special Note:
Elder Rash advised us today that with the addition of the Nampa Idaho Mission and the Twin Falls Idaho Mission, the mission boundaries of the Pocatello Idaho Mission are changing. Interestingly enough the new mission boundaries include areas farther south in Idaho to the southern Idaho border with Utah and actually will take in all of Bear Lake including the Utah side of Bear Lake. Much of this area includes small towns that Elder Rash's ancestors settled in the late 1800's. The northwestern part of the mission including Salmon, Idaho will no longer be in his mission but he still has Rexburg all the way up to West Yellowstone and part of Wyoming.
