Dear Family and Friends.
First things first... I'm getting transferred. :(
President called us on Thursday to tell us that Elder Larsen will be staying in the area as the District Leader. Which is great!!! I've been saying from the get go that he would be a better leader than me. And I know he will. He is also going to be covering the whole stake now... He definitely has his work cut out for him.
President has asked me to go down to Pocatello as a Zone Leader of the North Zone. I'll be Companions with Elder Merkley. I don't know much about him. I met him once and he seems like a really chill guy. And he plays the guitar like a boss!
Today is a sad day in our zone because I lose two of my sisters. Sister Barnett and Sister Fajardo are completing their missions and reporting to the Mission Home today at 3 o’clock. These are two sisters I came out with. It’s really weird to see them go home. I've grown close to both of them and I’ll miss them a lot. Today for one last activity before they go we are buying a lot of Coke and a couple things of mentors.... :) We'll see how the day goes :) Hahira
This week was Pioneer Days, Or Iona Days! We thought we would be there for most of the day, having fun and visiting with tons of people. The Lord had other plans for us though. That morning we got a call from our Zone Leaders asking if we could help with some service. We agreed and they said it wouldn't take too long. So first we went and helped set up Iona days, and they fed us breakfast. Then we got a call from a member saying that they were moving today and that the elder's quorum had forgotten about it and no one showed up to help. So we zoomed over to a storage unit to help them move! I love how quick missionaries are to help. Within 30 minutes there were 8 missionaries to help. Around 10 in the morning right after we help move that family we zoomed off again to the actual service project that was planned. And that was some labor intensive work. We had even more missionaries at that service project. We helped do yard work for an active member who had broken his collarbone and just had a new baby born. So from 10 to 3 we were pulling weeds, moving dirt, hefting 100 pound boulders around the yard for decor, and leveling out the dirt we dug up elsewhere. It was a big task in the heat of the day but the missionaries found ways to stay cool... a lot of that involved dumping water bottles and a very big hose! hahah everyone was pretty much drenched by the end of the project. And THEN! The Ucon sisters had a party that they were hosting for members and non members to be able to bond and strengthen the unity in their town. So we drove out to Ucon to help set up for that. And by the end of that it was night time. So all in all we never even made it to Iona days. But that's ok, service was more important that fun. Unfortunately Elder Larsen isn't used to that much Sun. So we think he got heat stroke and hasn't felt right ever since.
This should be an interesting week. I'm going back to Pocatello. So I will be close to my old area. In fact I may cover my old area for YSA work if I remember correctly. So I’m super excited!
I can't wait to hear from you guys! I love you and I know this church is true!
Love
Elder Rash
