Week 77: More Success On The Horizon

Dear Family and Friends,

This week was a lot of fun! And really successful!

This past week we also had another missionary with us that was getting ready to finish his mission today actually. That was a lot of fun and he really helped us stay positive when the work was slow. But we worked hard and we found a lot of success because of it.

This week we went out with our new ward mission leader for the 6th ward. We had a few people to go visit that we had never met before and a few set appointments so we had to go on splits. I went with the new ward missionary and Elder Larsen went with a ward missionary and the other missionary. We were able to meet 2 new families that are interested in learning about the Gospel.

Beckers: Sister Becker adopted 2 kids, Shawn and Michelle. Shawn is 15 and Michelle is 13. They are really shy but they warmed up to us on our first visit and asked us to come back the next day. The two kids came to church yesterday with a neighbor and had a good time! :) Their parents aren't as active but they are super supportive of their kids learning more.

Colby's: We also met with this family that Elder Larsen has been trying to get in with for 6 weeks. We brought our new ward missionary and we got in no problem. The blessings of member involvement!!! It is 10 times easier to get in to a place with a member there. We are going back to teach the family, there are 3 non members. Two daughters and an almost daughter-in-law. Really nice family!

We spent the Fourth with a lot of people! We had 2 barbeques we went to. as well as a Chuckers Game, Fireworks, and a very very very sketchy adventure to close the night....

So in the morning we woke up and went to a Parade!! The Parade was a blast. Missionaries are like celebrities in public here. A lot of people offered us free stuff. So after the parade we went down to the Snake River Green Belt where they had games, booths, and food trucks all set up. We were with two other elders so we played some of the games and just had a good time. After that the whole Zone was going to go to a Chuckers game so we all went and bought tickets for later in the day. Then we had a barbeque with the family we live with, The Piersons. They had tons of family in town. And they have a Daughter who lives in Gilbert. Her Husband is actually the Seminary teacher for Desert Ridge. So we talked about some people I know who he teaches. It was cool. Then we went to another Barbeque. The Keys family are members that are starting to come back to activity. We have been having appointments with them and they've all come back to church. They are a great family.

After that we went to the Chuckers game. It wasn't the most exciting game ever but we were with a ton of missionary friends so it was fun! And the Chuckers won so that was good! After the Game we made our way about a quarter mile from Chucker stadium to the River to watch the Fireworks. And from where my family told me my sister was at... I was probably only a few 100 feet away from her. CRAZY! We had a really fun time. And then after the fireworks is when it got interesting.

We were carpooling with our Zone Leaders and we had parked the car in downtown IF and just walked everywhere. Now with it being dark and thousands of people everywhere. We were a little bit turned around. But our Zone leaders told us they knew exactly where to go so we trusted them... We ended up walking around in the sketchiest part of Idaho Falls until about midnight. Then we finally found the car and got home. We were Beat!!!!!

But all in all it was a great week! I'm really excited for this upcoming week and all the miracles that are in store! I love you guys and I hope all is well!

Love,
Elder Rash
