This week has been.... busy!!! I'm now the District Leader of the Iona District. There are three sets of sisters in my District.
Sister Barnett and Dearden who cover the other half of the Iona South Stake with us.
Sister Christensen and Hunt who cover the Ucon Stake. (Sister Hunt is Brand New)
And Sister Brown and Hill who cover the Iona Stake. (Sister Hill is Brand New as well)\
A little about my District....
Sister Barnett came out with me and is almost done with her mission. Sister Dearden was actually trained by Sister Barnett's trainee... Making sister Dearden, Sister Barnett's Granddaughter.
Sister Christensen has been out for a while as well. She and Sister Hunt are doing great work in Ucon.
Sister Brown is from Australia, so she has a really cool accent. And sister hill is from Texas.
Then there is Elder Larsen and I. Elder Larsen actually came out at the same time I did. Only he went to the Ogden Utah mission. Then back last July when the Mission Boundaries changed he was one of the missionaries who came over with the change. He and I get along great! We have the same sense of humor so we are always laughing. He is from Marysville Washington and is the oldest of 11 in a blended family. He plays the Guitar like me so we jam out sometimes when we have a free minute. He has been in the area only 1 transfer and he was sick a lot last transfer with H- Pylori virus so we are both a little unfamiliar with the area.
My Area.... IS SMALL
I cover 3/4ths of a subdivision. That's it. Technically its 3 wards but they are small. I cover the 4th 6th and 7th wards in the Iona South Stake. This was only created like 4 months ago. I live with some members who are really nice! They have a really nice house and we live on the 2nd floor. The Piersons are their names. Sister Pierson is an artist and has tons of really neat paintings hanging on the walls. She also sings and plays instruments. So there are 4 really nice guitars upstairs that we are allowed to use! I'm in heaven. They also have a dog, named Gally. She is a medium sized white fur ball. We get along good.
The area, because of its size, has struggled for work for a while. We have a few investigators and we teach quite a few less active families. The wards set up teaching appointments for us every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
I really enjoy Iona. As a District Leader I encourage my district to be productive and effective. I collect their teaching reports for the week and assist in giving trainings and helping where needed. I also call every night to follow up with the sisters on how they are doing and how their investigators are as well. It’s been really interesting to try and figure out my roles and responsibilities. All the District Leaders and Zone Leaders had Trainings this past Friday on how to better fulfill our callings. It was good and gave me some good tips. Now I’m just working to build the trust and confidence of my District. Sister Barnett and Dearden know me pretty well so I don't think they are too concerned. Now it’s the other two sets of sisters. Wish me luck. :)
Besides that I don't think I have anything to report. Stay Posted for more information and stuff on the area. I love you guys!
Love Elder Rash
