HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
I can officially say that now because it’s past
Thanksgiving! It's so weird! This time last year I had my mission call. Time is
flying! Soon it'll be Christmas! Then New Years, then the fun begins!
This week was Thanksgiving! So on Thursday we went
over to the England's home to share Thanksgiving dinner with them. It was
DELICIOUS!!! Turkey, stuffing, potatoes, veggies, and PIE! It was a great time
and they had the Westminster Dog Show on so we got a glimpse of that. Not
really what I would have preferred, but I can't complain it was still fun.
After an Early dinner we still had about 3 hours of
daylight so the Spanish Elder's and we went on a hike. It was my idea. I know I
know... Caleb.... wanting to go on a hike....? It shocked me too but it was a
ton of fun!!! There is a place just outside of town that connects to the Fort
Hall Reservation. So we hiked to the top of this hill overlooking all of
Blackfoot. Then we hiked to the river which wasn't too far down the hill. We
got to the top right as the Sun was setting. It was a perfect way to end a
Holiday.
Our investigators are doing well too!
Gary and Krystie: They both went out of town for the
Holidays and had a great time with Family. Gary went trucking and Krystie went
with him. They are both so excited for their Baptisms. Please keep them in your
prayers as it gets closer.
Wes: Wes came to Church yesterday! And it was amazing!
He had had bad experiences with going to churches that were never inviting.
After Sacrament meeting the WHOLE ward went up to greet him!!!!! So many people
knew his family or him and it was great! He stayed for the whole 3 hours! Some
people even mentioned him in their testimonies! hahah
Ashten: We have an appointment with him and his family
tonight. He was been going regularly to the Spanish Branch so we don't see him
at church but we know he goes. We really want to get his whole family active
again so they can stay strong after Ashten gets baptized.
Art and Lynn: Hahaha Art is a non member who has a
doctorate in Philosophy. And a Degree in Law too. Needless to say he is very
educated. He loves having us over to talk about different things. He is a very
nice guy! I like to tell him he's like a Modern Day Pharisee! hahah We like him
and he likes us. Lynn his wife is a member, She has taken some Philosophy
classes as well so she helps us out whenever Art wants to play Devils Advocate.
They have two Daughters, Allysa and Alora. They are not baptized and we have
been trying to begin the lessons with them. I think we will start to see good
things happening here! :)
Thanksgiving day we did tons of service! One of our
WML's was putting up a roof for his porch so we went over and helped build
that! It reminded me of when I used to build sets for Theater Class. Then we
went over to some less active members we've been working with and raked up all
their leaves and fallen apples! It was such a good experience.
All in all it's been a great week! It's getting
colder. Which stinks :( But hopefully it’s not too bad. My first full winter in
Idaho.... Bring it on.
I love you guys! I'm so thankful for all my blessings!
All my wonderful friends and family!! Stay safe for the Holidays.
Love,
Elder Rash
Note from Elder Rash's Parents: Major cold front hit Idaho overnight. Power Outages from Rexburg to Blackfoot. Tobie has been without power all morning. Schools are closed. As of 1030 this morning it was a balmy 7 degrees that according to the weather channel feels like -6 degrees. Glad Elder Rash has a car and doesn't have to walk in this weather.
