Week 39: Meeting a former missionary from his Dad's mission.

Hello Friends and Family, or Family and Friends, Whichever you prefer....
This week has sailed by just like all the previous ones and, I assume, all of the future ones. So this week I said goodbye to Elder Blake. It was a sad time for us both. We said our farewells to the great people of Shelley and then he got shipped off!
And Elder Viana is now with me. We get along pretty well. He is a beast at playing the Ukulele and Guitar. He grew up in Venezuela until he was 15 with his grandma. Then he moved to Utah to go to school and that is where he learned English. He is a track superstar and already has scholarships to Boston and is going to qualify for the 2015 Olympics! He runs the 800 meter in 48 seconds. The world record is 43 seconds. He has 3 sisters, one older and 2 younger. He was a Spanish Elder, but because of the huge wave of Visa waiters needing Spanish areas to train, he was transferred to English work.
Well lets see, what can I tell you about the area this week...
Kory, Rick and Tami's daughter, has a baptismal date! We've been meeting with her a lot and teaching her. She is a typical 14 year old girl though... Defiant of authority, rebellious, scatterbrained at times.... (how many teenaged girls did I just offend?) ;) We took her to a chapel near by her house and asked her to pray if the things we were teaching her were true. Then Elder Viana and I left to give her alone time to pray. We returned 8 minutes later and she just kinda smiled at us. We asked her how she had felt and she said it felt like there was someone else in the room with her, she felt tingly when she prayed. She said it felt weird and strange. We told her that that was nothing to be worried about. That the Holy Ghost works through that tingly feeling. As a typical teenaged girl though, she just shrugged us off. ;) haha we are still working with her on that.
Another neat family experience happened again this week. The church sure does make the world a small place. We had a stake correlation on Sunday with the Stake President, the High Counselors over missionary work, and the Sister missionaries and us. We kinda went around introducing ourselves and one of the high counselors, Brother Anderson, said he served his mission in Fort Lauderdale from 89 to 91. I told him that that is where and when my Dad served his mission! He immediately remembered him! This brother had spoke Haitian-Creole on his mission but he said that My dad and him and his companion and been in the same apartment for a while. I swear everyone here in Idaho knows my family. I just can't avoid it! :P
Well lots of exciting things are happening and I really am loving my time in Shelley! :) I know this letter is a little short but i'll try to write personal letters to my family today so it'll compensate!
I love you guys! I know this Gospel, this "Life style" brings happiness! if you don't believe me, try living like a Mormon for a week. See what happens!
Love,

Elder Rash
