No this is not Elder
Anderson's Letter!! Hahaha BUT some changes have taken place this last transfer
and my Comp is no longer the District Leader. A Spanish elder is!!!! Which
means whenever we go on exchanges, one of us will be in a Spanish area!!!! Time
to brush up on my Spanish ;)
Another new thing that
happened is now Elder Malau' Ulu and I have a new addition to our
companionship. Yep, we are in a threesome now. Just for this transfer though.
His name is Elder Carroll. He is from Columbus Ohio. He's been on his mission
for about 16 months. Because of an odd number of elders coming out his last
transfer he got put with us. To be honest I was kind of mad about getting
ANOTHER companion, but we all get along GREAT!!!! We laugh a lot but we also
mesh together when we teach! It's been a really great experience. Living
quarters are a little cramped but we make it work! What is interesting is that
our mission president could have put him anywhere in the whole mission, but he
put him with us. And for a while we had no idea why. Until we mentioned one of
our investigators, Rachel, to him. His eyes lit up and he told us that HE had
taught Rachel and her family when she had lived in his old area! He had helped
her so much and they were really progressing towards baptism, then Rachel had
to move very quickly. Now is Elder Carroll's second chance to help us help her!
He is very excited!!!
With the addition of
another elder I kind of thought that I could take a step back and let the two
experienced missionaries do the work.... That hasn't been the case! Not to toot
my own horn, but I'VE BEEN ON FIRE THIS WEEK!!! The other elders just sit back
as I teach investigators and help them understand doctrine with scriptures I
didn't even know I knew!!!! Don't think I'm being prideful. I KNOW that this
couldn't be possible in the least bit without my Father in Heaven. Anyone who
was in seminary with me can attest to the fact that I NEVER memorized any
scriptures.
This week has been full of
lessons with investigators, meeting new people, and having a lot of fun with
some really great members. Michael and Zachari are still doing really well!!!
We have had some GREAT lessons with them and have been helping them get over
some challenges in their lives. We talked a lot about the Atonement and how as
we repent of our sins we can be made clean and all the guilt and pain that we
feel can go away. Most people put a negative connotation on the word Repent.
But I can tell you that my life would stink without repentance. Repentance
allows us to ask forgiveness for mistakes that we all make in our lives. As we
feel sorrow for what we've done, ask our Heavenly Father for forgiveness, and
try to never make that mistake again; we can feel peace and comfort in our
lives in place of that guilt and pain. The Atonement is one of God's greatest
gifts to His children.
We have been doing ALOT of
contacting new people to try and help them. I am pretty sure we do more
tracting than any other set of missionaries in this mission!!! I don't mind though. We also went over to see
Justen, the boy that was baptized. He is doing GREAT!!! I love that family so much!!! He says the
funniest stuff!!! His mom told us that because of the daylight savings change
(I hate that, by the way) Justen has been sleeping in, which is unusual for
him. And one morning when he woke up he came outside and his mom asked him what
he had been doing in his room. He turned to his mom with a sheepish grin on his
face and said "oh, just dreaming of GURLSSS!" His mom busted up
laughing, and so did we when she told us!!! She then asked him "Which
girls?" and again with a grin "The girls at the gym!!!!" Hahahah!!!!
This guy is so funny! He has such a great spirit about him!!! He wrote me a
thank you letter for helping with his baptism!!!
Well I'm almost out of
time, but I want you all to know that I KNOW, that the Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter Day Saints is Christ's Church once again established on the earth.
And that you can gain knowledge of that, just as I have, by reading the Book of
Mormon, and by asking your Father in Heaven with a sincere heart, with real
intent to ACT upon the answer you receive. As a servant of the Lord I know that
this is true. I love you all and pray for you.
Love always,
Elder Rash
