Week 3 - Final Letter from the MTC

Well it’s my last week in the MTC everyone!!!! It has been such an amazing time here!!! I've grown so much and am so excited to go to Idaho!!!! This week has been crazy!!!! With class, Teaching (actors) investigators, and learning how to be a good Missionary!! It was great getting tons of letters from friends! :) I guess my last letter kinda caught their attention ;) It makes my day to get letters!!!
So I Told you guys last week how I got to give a blessing and help a sister in my district, well this week I got the opportunity to be on the receiving end of that. So my week was going great and I was healthy as a horse... until Thursday... Yes, I will admit that I, Elder Rash, got sick, really sick. I woke up Thursday feeling fine and went about my day as normal. But after lunch something was wrong. I asked to be excused from class, went into the restroom, and... had a refresher course on all the meals I had eaten that week... It was not pleasant. So I immediately went on house arrest with my companion. Poor guy had to be stuck in a room with a half dead companion. I tried to get some fluids down but needless to say, they didn't stay.
After class all the elders in my district came back and got me out of bed for a blessing. Just before they began the counselor to the Branch President came in to witness. The blessing was great! I could feel the spirit administering to me. Then 2 seconds after the Amen, I was over the trashcan offering up the desires of my stomach... The room was quickly vacated. Hahaha!!! It was amazing how much of a brotherly bond is formed amongst my zone. Every elder in my zone it seemed came by as I lay on my death bed to bring medicine and see how I was. Everyone said I looked like death warmed over! It got to the point as the elders were visiting I said that I was going to start charging entrance fees to see the dying elder! That got a chuckle out of a lot of them! I have a testimony of blessings and the power of the priesthood everyone. If it had not been for that blessing and the administering angels in the form of elders I would not have been able to function.
The next morning I felt a lot better but still weak so I stayed home from morning class. As I lay in bed, I thought I should probably make good use of my time and began to study the scriptures. I was reading in Alma 31 through 34. Alma gathers together a powerhouse district of missionaries to go unto the Zoramites to preach unto them. As they begin preaching unto them they realize that they are too prideful to hear the message. They begin to preach to the poor and those who were kicked out of the synagogues because they didn't look good enough. These people are receptive to the message and Alma begins to preach unto them about faith. This part is what struck me the most. It talks about how we have to EXERCISE our faith unto an experiment of the word. Just like with our body we need to exercise our faith to keep it strong. by acting on what we believe. If we don't exercise it, it will die. Matthew 21:21. That is what we should strive for our faith to be like! Just like how a wimp can't lift 300 lbs. but if he continues to exercise and nourish himself, he will be able to. I have such a testimony of this, because after I read this I decided to exercise my faith and act. I got out of bed, said the most humble and sincere pray I have ever given, and asked my Father in Heaven in faith that He would give me strength to go about the rest of my day. I said Amen, got on my feet, dressed, and went about the rest of my day. I know that it is because I acted on my faith and the blessings and prayers of my fellow elders that I am writing this.
I have such a testimony of this Gospel and that it is only through living its teachings that we can be exalted and live with our Heavenly Father again. As we exercise our faith we can do all things. I love all of you guys and I'll be sure to let you know where I end up next week :) Thank you all for helping me be the man I am today!

Love Always,

Elder Rash
